When I was child I lived in Riverstone. My parents, Aunt, Uncle and cousins used to travel on the Pansy to picnic at North Richmond. We would board the train at Riverstone and travel to Richmond then onto the Pansy. We would usually take cold meats, home grown vegetables (tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers & onions) for our picnic.
Our fathers would fish while we swam. One of my younger cousins nearly drowned one day. A stranger saw him sinking and came to the rescue.
My Uncle Reg "Curly" Douglass and cousin Jack, used to travel on the Pansy to Kurrajong. Claude Dunstan would pick them up in a horse and cart to go rabbiting on his property. One time they missed the last train and had to sleep on Kurrajong Station until the morning, as there was no telephone to inform their family.
